If you’re anxious for warm weather and sunny skies, jumpstart your spring with the Campus Entertainment Network’s annual March Meltdown. The James Bond-themed week started with a showing of the latest 007 film and continues through Saturday with exciting, intriguing and entertaining events.
March Meltdown is CEN’s way of welcoming spring – which officially sprung today – to campus and serves as an unofficial kick-off to the Spring Weekend countdown, scheduled for the last weekend of April. The week also serves as a vehicle to encourage broader student involvement in campus events and programming, according to CEN Traditions Committee Co-Chair Katie Muttitt.
And they’ve got a lot planned for this week. Cheer on the spring sports teams at Thursday’s pep rally – and come early for free chocolate milkshakes. The White Panda, the mashup duo who played last year’s Spring Weekend concert, returns to rock out at Friday’s Concert Release Party, where the band playing this year’s Spring Concert will be announced. Finally, students will vote for their favorite stand-up campus comedian at the Last Hawk Standing student comedy competition on Saturday.
“We’re making this year bigger and better than ever,” says Muttit. “If you attend all of the events, you’re entered into a raffle to win tickets to go skydiving.”
Two winners will receive two tickets each for skydiving. The winners will be announced at Last Hawk Standing.
March Meltdown kicked off on Wednesday with 007 Nerf Target Practice, where students had a chance to improve their aim at insidious-looking targets in the Lower Commons, and a getaway to Launch Trampoline Park in Warwick, R.I.
