Closing the curtain on a celebratory season highlighting the 25th anniversary of Roger Williams University’s Performing Arts Center, the University will host a weeklong series of performances May 3 to 10. The music and dance productions will showcase the artistic talents of the RWU community.
The Dance Theatre in Concert will kick-off the performance series with a succession of shows featuring new works by students, faculty and guest artists.
Next, community members can take-in a performance by the Instrumental Ensemble, an all-campus concert band comprised of faculty, staff, alumni and undergraduates from the Music Department, as well as student musicians from across the campus community. In addition to an eclectic program of Brazilian Samba and American Jazz, this free performance will feature numbers by Leonard Bernstein and Ralph Vaughn-Williams.
Later in the week the Chorus Concert – an ensemble of 30 singers led by Chorus Director Jonathan Richter – will focus on the theme of love songs. With amorous melodies from the Renaissance to present-day, this free event will include a special performance of “Neue Leibeslieder” by German composer Johannes Brahms.
