RWU Gears Up for 2011 Homecoming and Family Weekend Celebration

King & Queen Coronation, Midnight Madness and St. Baldrick’s Day Fundraiser will highlight a series of events from October 21-23

BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University community members will celebrate the 2011 Homecoming and Family Weekend this October 21 to 23. The annual celebration gives students, families and alumni the chance to visit campus and to enjoy the fun and spirit of the RWU community.

The weekend will kick-off on Friday, Oct. 21 with Casino Night at 8:00 p.m. in the Campus Recreation Center Field House. Later that night, students, families and alumni can show their Hawks pride at Midnight Madness – a winter sports pep rally that will feature music, dancing and competitions – at 10:30 p.m. in the Campus Recreation Center Gymnasium.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, participants will have the chance to attend a day-long series of alumni and sporting events, informational sessions and family activities. Highlights for the day include the Homecoming 5K Race, Autumn Festival, St. Baldrick’s Day Fundraiser and the King & Queen Coronation. The day will conclude with a special improv comedy performance by The Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company. A President’s Jazz Brunch on Sunday, Oct. 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Upper Dining Commons will conclude the weekend festivities.
