The Roger Williams University Athletic Department has announced the creation of the Roger Williams University Athletics Hall of Fame and will induct its first class as a part of Homecoming Weekend this upcoming October 2012.
“We have had so many tremendous accomplishments by student-athletes and teams we are thrilled to be able to recognize them with the inauguration of our Athletic Hall of Fame,” said Dave Kemmy, director of athletics, intramurals, and recreation. “So many people have contributed to the success of athletics at RWU that it is not going to be easy narrowing down those to induct. We are excited to get the process started.”
With over 40 years of history for Roger Williams University Athletics, the Hall of Fame will recognize the various individuals and teams with significant athletic accomplishments during their tenure at the University, having helped build a solid foundation for RWU Athletics.
Submissions for nominees for the first class will be open to the public. The RWU Athletics Hall of Fame committee will take nominations until February 1, 2012. For those interested in putting forward a potential candidate for nomination, please visit the RWU Athletics Hall of Fame Nomination Page to fill out a nomination form.
Nominees will be selected for induction as student-athletes, coaches, teams, or for special recognition. To view the full qualifications for potential nominees, please visit the RWU Athletics Hall of Fame Selection Criteria page.
