For Men’s Soccer Star Kamali Webson, All-American Honors

The Roger Williams senior from Bellingham, Mass., named to the NSCAA All-America Second Team

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – With the release of the 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America / Continental Tire NCAA Division III All-America Teams, Roger Williams University men’s soccer senior Kamali Webson has been selected to the NSCAA All-America Second Team.

This marks Webson’s first selection as an All-American and the first All-American for the RWU men’s soccer program since the selection of Antoine Bell ’08 in 2007.

The All-American recognition caps off a career year for Webson, a native of Bellingham, Mass. The senior defender was named the 2012 Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to being chosen to the All-CCC First Team for the second straight year. Webson helped consistently maintain a defensive backfield that allowed only 23 goals on the year, which was second-best in the CCC.

In addition to his prowess on the defensive end, Webson served as a major threat on offense end as well. He was tied for fourth on the team with six goals scored, while leading RWU with four game-winning goals. He notched the game winner for the Hawks in three consecutive games against Nichols (1-0) on Sept. 22, Wheaton (2-1) on Sept. 26 and Wentworth (1-0) on Sept. 29.

During the year, Webson helped lead Roger Williams University to a #8 New England regional ranking by both the NCAA and the NSCAA. RWU finished as Commonwealth Coast Conference regular season champions with an 8-1-0 conference mark. The Hawks advanced to the CCC Semifinal Game and would later participate in the ECAC Division III New England Men’s Soccer Tournament, where the Hawks closed out the year as ECAC Runners-up and a 17-5-1 overall record.
