Annual Merchant Fair Returns to Campus

Food tastings, product samplings highlight fall semester tradition in which local businesses display their wares for students

Students enjoying the crisp early fall weather on campus today found more than just their way to class (or the Commons, if they were headed to lunch).

The annual Merchant Fair, where vendors from Bristol and neighboring communities showcase a sampling of their wares, offered a range of goods and services – from jewelry and sweet treats to massage, hairstyling and lots in between.

Beyond the chance to learn about the more than 35 local businesses that came to campus this year, one of the most exciting parts of the merchant fair for many students is the opportunity for free samples. Junior Catherine Grimm says she came specifically to taste local treats: “I like it because I can see where to order food late night and which places offer discounts to students.”

Even if students left without any products, they departed with a handful of coupons, menus and business cards. Check out the slideshow below for a glimpse at the Merchant Fair in full swing:
