The Instrumental Ensemble will celebrate the season with "Music of Peace," a program on healing, reconciliation, and rebirth. Our eclectic mix of undergrad, faculty, staff, and community musicians has a good time together, and that rubs off on the audience! Like all RWU Music events, this one is free and open to the public.

The RWU Chorus will present a concert with various selections of choral works. The University Chorus is an ensemble of approximately 45 members of the RWU community. The concert will include performances from small ensembles and soloists as well as the large chorus. The concert will be held at beautiful St. Mary’s Parish, 330 Wood St., Bristol, R.I. It is free and open to the public.

Both eastern and western teachings will be utilized and the sessions will incorporate gentle stretching, meditation, imagery, deep breathing and relaxation training. The class will be led by Counselor Debbie Knapman from the RWU Center for Counseling and Student Development. Please feel free to join us if you are interested in learning and practicing these age-old approaches. Please wear comfortable clothing.

Praised by the Boston Globe as "superb," the dynamic bass clarinet/marimba duo Transient Canvas has been blazing its own trail in the world of contemporary music since 2011. In that time, they have premiered over 70 new works, essentially creating an entirely new repertoire for their unique instrumentation. This concert features world-premiere performances of new music and performed by visiting guest composers Joseph Dangerfield (University of Florida), Peter Farmer, and our own Elliott Miles McKinley. This event is free and open to the public.

Wilkins, a groundbreaking Harvard Law School professor and onetime clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, will deliver the Commencement address and earn an honorary degree at the Roger Williams University School of Law ceremony. The School of Law will also present an honorary degree to Janet L. Coit, director of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, and RWU Law Professor Bruce I. Kogan, during the ceremony. This event is not open to the public; tickets are required.

NBC 10 anchor Patrice Wood – who has been delivering the evening news for WJAR (Channel 10) for 37 years and is known for her "Tuesday's Child" reports – will address the Class of 2017 and receive an honorary degree during Commencement exercises. Dr. Pablo Rodriguez — chair of the Women & Infants Health Care Alliance, president and CEO of Women’s Care, former medical director of Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island, and a clinical associate professor at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School — will also be awarded an honorary degree. This event is not open to the public; tickets are required.

The Class of 2021 kicks off the first year at RWU with Community Connections day, an annual day of service. Some 1,200-plus volunteers from RWU will bring the region's largest single-service volunteer day into towns and cities around the region for the 12th annual event.
