As a call to action to end violence against women and girls, RWU students, staff and faculty will rise up and dance! As a flash mob, today they'll be part of the first-ever worldwide One Billion Rising movement.
One Billion Rising is a campaign that launches this Valentine's Day by V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls now in its 15th year. Across the world on Thursday, Feb. 14, flash mobs will all join in the same dance to show solidarity for the one in three women who will be raped or beaten in their lifetimes — that's one billion women across the world.
So this Thursday, become part of the revolution. Join One Billion Rising to show your support for ending the violence.
This is a movement for women and in celebration of women, but everyone who loves them is welcome to join! Watch a video tutorial of the dance routine.
Contact Jennifer Stanley, Director of the RWU Women's Center, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 401-254-3161 for more information on joining the movement. A dance rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 4 pm in the Campus Recreation Center Dance Studio A.
