RWU Professor of Architecture Julian Bonder — a principal partner at Wodiczko + Bonder and Julian Bonder + Associates — will join a daylong conference to explore the relationship between slavery and universities, across the country and around the world at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. Roger Williams University is hosting a live broadcast of the entire conference on campus, as well as a lunchtime discussion to explore the views on slavery held by the university's namesake, Roger Williams.

This information session will explore approaches to overseas research, teaching and engagement through the lenses of three RWU faculty members' experiences. Participants will hear about resources and funding opportunities for faculty members’ overseas engagement; and have opportunity to informally discuss ideas and opportunities they are considering. Jeremy Wells (SAAHP) will discuss his Fulbright experience in Brazil; Peter Thompson (FCAS) will share his experience teaching at Al Akhawayn University in Morocco; and Rachel McCormack (SEd) will share her work fostering Mother Tongue literacy and support for refugee children in Europe. Kate Greene will share international opportunities and funding sources.

This year in correspondence with the University's "Quest for Refuge" series, we will have a refugee tent. In collaboration with the Governor's Director of Food Strategy and Á La Rhody, Roger Williams University will present a forum exploring how the state can improve food recovery in Rhode Island. Across the country, colleges and universities have made formal commitments to reducing food waste and improving food recovery. This panel brings together representatives from community agencies, local government and Rhode Island colleges and universities to explore strategies for a more coordinated food recovery response in our state. In addition to a panel discussion, the event will feature an exhibition titled, "On the Table," and breakout sessions exploring food insecurity and food recovery.
