The 17th Annual Professor John Howard Birss, Jr. Memorial Lecture Series and Library Exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of "One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel García Márquez. The book discussion group is being held in collaboration with and hosted by the Rogers Free Library in Bristol. Two book discussion sessions will be held at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Rogers Free Library at 525 Hope St.
A keynote address will be presented by Dr. Mari Helena Rueda, associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese at Smith College, on Wednesday, March 1 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mary Tefft White Cultural Center in the Roger Williams University Library.
The library exhibition, “Gabriel García Márquez and ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude,’” is open daily through March 31 during the library's operating hours. Items are on display courtesy of the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin, Redwood Library and others.
